Where have you been?

September 22, 2013 § 2 Comments

Most people who aren’t consistent with their blog posts will say that they’ve been incredibly busy… Not me. The lack of business actually has kept me away from blogging. Who wants to hear about me spending my days with a ginger tabby, a mug full of tea and Netflix?

Summer’s winding down and instead of trying to busy myself trying to get the last few bits out of life, I’ve been enjoying the art of doing nothing. My favorite thing to do as of late are shopping. Clothes, groceries, school supplies… you name it and I’ve probably bought it. It’s an addiction.

My newest favorite toy as of late is my phone. I finally have stepped into the world of iPhones and I never want to look back. I’m a convert. I’ve been diligent about taking photos… a lot of them. Even about mundane things. So here’s what I’ve been into lately…

I’m hoping to step out of my shell that I call my apartment and into the real world tomorrow or some time before Thursday. So… there will be something to look forward to!

Until next time.

images-2I got nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award by Kate of Cuffed Jeans and the Boots With the Heels, a girl who has an awesome sense of style. Thanks Kate (:

This tag calls for seven things about me and tagging fifteen other bloggers. So let’s get started!

1. I’m a yoga fanatic. I do yoga at least once every day but I’ve been doing it twice a day as of late! Yoga IS “me” time.

2. I used to find that accessories were too superfluous. But now I just want to buy all of the rose gold midi rings and necklaces I can get my hands on. I even own a watch now… cool.

3. Music is my first true love. I used to play alto saxophone in high school. I used to be quite good (in my opinion) but I stopped practicing.

4. I’m practically like a fish out of water. I drink water constantly. I get slightly panicked when I go places without water and I start running through the symptoms of dehydration in my head.

5. The majority of my friends in college are boys. I don’t know how to speak to girls my age that I’ve never met before. Is that weird? I’m trying to change that.

6. I used to be quite introverted as a child. College came and I was a huge extrovert whilst I lived in the dorms. But now I seem to be a hybrid… like an extrovert in an introvert’s clothing.

7. I made an Instagram exclusively for yoga, my cat, and the food I eat. I probably won’t be able to resist posting pictures of my OOTDs and what I’m doing what not. You can find me on Instagram at @catssicaa

Now for the bloggers I tag!

It’s that time of year again…

September 6, 2013 § 8 Comments

It’s that time of year again… Back to school. We all knew this day was going to come. Maybe you’re back in school already. Maybe, if you’re lucky, you still have a couple weeks left of summer to hold onto. But the first day of school will surely come.

I don’t start school for another two weeks (hooray!) but I have been giving a lot of thought into what I’m going to wear. Given my circumstances, I have to bike approximately two miles from my apartment to school so I can’t really wear anything I want. I refuse to pay a couple hundred dollars each quarter for a parking spot that is still a fifteen minute walk to main campus. But that doesn’t stop me from dreaming!

MTOn the left, I was trying to channel my inner ‘cool chick’ in this look. You know, that girl that everyone wants to be friends with but no one really knows how to be friends with. I think the ankle boots really toughen it up while the dress is a great marriage between a comfy printed tee and a soft maxi skirt.

The look on the right is more of what I’ll most likely be wearing to school most days. This has been my go-to outfit as of late. I basically live in my yoga clothes because they’re so gosh darn comfortable. My pumas are no exception. I’ve walked miles in these shoes and my feet never hurt.

This outfit goes out to all of my “casual outfit” loving ladies. I am in love with this hamsa tank. It’s so soft and comfy. I’ll probably be guilty of wearing it once every week when the school year starts up. This is an outfit I can see myself wearing not only in school but also going to lunch with my girl friends.

RFCan I just mention how nice these two look juxtaposed?

On the left is a quite a feminine outfit despite the dark palette. There isn’t anything I don’t like about this outfit… The pops of red in the flowers, the nude kitten wedges, and the not so feminine touch of the studded waist belt. This outfit is perfect for those “it still feels like summer” days.

This is an outfit I think is fit for school and for a night out with your girls. From the monochromatic outfit to the buckles on the ankle boots, this outfit screams “I’m feeling brave so check out this new look” but in a really subtle and demure way.

So that’s what I’d wear to school! I’ll probably end up donning something more similar to the second look. You know… yoga pants, sports bra, pumas, and whatever cute tank or sweater I end up picking out that morning.

What are the outfits you’re thinking of wearing to school?

Until next time!

It’s been a long time coming

September 3, 2013 § 10 Comments

First off, I’d like to apologize for my unannounced hiatus. I didn’t mean for it to happen… It sort of just happened on its own. I got back from my relaxing two week vacation home around two weeks ago or so.

Since then, I’ve been busily moving from my apartment that was a 10 minute bike ride away from school to my current one which is 20 to 30 minutes away. Logical, I know. This new place is nice and big despite the fact that it’s unfurnished unlike my last one. It’s been such a blessing to have a closet that’s the length of my wall and also to have enough room to properly do yoga in. I’m almost done furnishing/decorating it but I still have a couple things left to do.

Now, on to the fun stuff… I’ve been shopping. I shopped a lot while I was home (mostly yoga clothes). I’ve also recently done a lot of shopping at F21.

I don’t know about you but I think F21 is a place for teenagers go to shop for things that look trendy but aren’t really that great. I’ve really tried to make an effort to look my age (and perhaps older) and I think I’ve been quite successful. But my recent trip to a nearby F21 got me shopping.

Here’s what I bought…

Taupe Sweater $22.80 (M) | Brown Buckled Boots $42.80 (7) | Elephant printed leggings $11.80 (S) | Brown sunglasses $5.80 | Printed Maxi Dress $17.80 (S) | Marled Sweater $22.80 (M)

I suppose I have back to school shopping in mind! I don’t start until later this month so I have quite a bit of time to gather some essentials for the new school year. Although, I will probably be showing up to class in my yoga clothes more than anything else. Twenty minute bike rides to school can get pretty sweaty… if you know what I mean.

I normally get excited about new purchases but I seem to have a dilemma! I’m not sure if I should keep the shoes!

They’ve got a lot of buckles… But the heel is perfect and I love the color. It’s like they’re the ugly cousin of the beautiful Jeffrey Campbell Everly boot. They seem to be made better than most F21 shoes which is another plus. But I’m still unsure!

So… I need help. What do you think about these beautifully hideous boots? Yay or nay?

Until next time (:

Rooted Vacation

cloudskayaksfenced inIt’s been a while, hasn’t it?

I’ve been home for a full week now and I only have one week left. I’ve been relaxing in the comforts of the home I grew up in. I’ve been really happy. I’m currently taking yoga classes at this amazing studio that only offers heated classes (ranging from vinyasa to power, and of course, bikram). I’m definitely seeing some results with my mood and fitness (even if I have bad days, I’m grateful I get to practice).

I spent a really great day trip with my family yesterday in Mendocino County. I wrote about this charming region in California in an article on Trekity, Four Secret Ways to Explore Mendocino County. Going there was high on my list of priorities to say the least.

The drive going there and the local sights were so beautiful. I am also convinced that just about everything is much more beautiful when things are just barely waking up.

We went on a ride on the world famous Skunk Train, walked around Glass Beach, and went to see some historical artifacts at the Guest House Museum. I wish I got to stay for longer! Next time, I’m definitely going kayaking.

This is in no way a perfect expression of vrksasana. Don’t be fooled by my smile. I’m absolutely terrified of somehow falling into the ocean in this picture (which is something that would happen to me). The kid behind me was so brave. He was jumping and running around the rocks at Glass Beach as if he had spent his whole life there.

Anyway, thanks for reading! Until next time.
